Disaster Loan - Small Business

U.S. Small Business Administration

LOW-INTEREST RATE ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOANS AVAILABLE IN OZAUKEE COUNTY WISCONSIN AS THE RESULT OF THE STORMS, WINDS, FLOODING, AND MUDSLIDES IN NEIGHBORING WASHINGTON COUNTY ON AUGUST 9-12, 2025

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) wants to inform small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes in Ozaukee County Wisconsin that they can apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), which is also called a working capital loan, to meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of  the disaster that was declared in neighboring Washington County on August 9-12, 2025. These loans are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period.

ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOAN

Small businesses and most private non-profits in Ozaukee County can apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) if they are not able to pay their ordinary and necessary expenses as a direct result of the disaster. The business or non-profit is not required to have sustained any physical damage to their property; however, if the business was affected due to utility problems, road closures, a decrease in business activity, cancelled contracts, customers not being able to transact business due to the disaster nearby, employees not being able to get to work, or for other reasons as the direct result of the disaster that occurred in Washington County, the business or non-profit can apply for an EIDL. The deadline to apply for an EIDL is June 11, 2026.

Fallen Leaves

Fallen Leaves

Fallen leaves can lead to nutrient pollution in local waterways and flooding if left in the street. Leaves may be swept up by stormwater runoff and flow into local waterways, where they then decompose and release excess nutrients. Excessive amounts of phosphorus deposited into stormwater runoff can lead to algal blooms, increased macrophyte growth, and reduced dissolved oxygen levels. All of which degrade the water quality of aquatic ecosystems.   Consider mulching or composting your leaves this fall to protect the health of our waterways and prevent flooding on your street. Leaves release nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen as they decay which provides your lawn or garden with a natural fertilizer. Help keep our waterways clean and healthy this fall by mulching or composting your leaves. Learn more at respectourwaters.org/leaf-management
