Hydrant Flushing

Fire Hydrant Flushing

The Saukville Water Utility will be spot flushing hydrants throughout the Village Monday, March 3rd & Tuesday, March 4th.

Residents may want to fill containers with water to be used for drinking, cooking, cleaning, flushing toilets, etc.

Any discoloration in your water is iron and is not harmful.  Running your faucets for a short period of time after flushing in your area is completed will clear the lines.

We recommend that you do not do laundry during the flushing period.  If you do and your laundry has a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY; rather rewash in cold water after flushing is completed to remove the discoloration.

Pollution

Community events provide a space for residents to gather, celebrate the achievements of their community, and support local businesses. Event planners, participating vendors and event attendees can do their part to prevent stormwater pollution by following the tips listed below:  If it isn’t rain it doesn’t belong in the drain! All chemicals, oils, and waste should be disposed of properly during and after community events.  Any materials including chemicals and other substances used in cleaning or cooking that may be stored outside should always be covered when not in use. Covering harmful materials prevents them from being washed into storm drains during rain or snow melt events.  Trash cans and dumpsters should always be properly covered. Covering trash receptacles ensures that harmful bacteria is not washed into waterways.
