Stormwater Education Information

Did you know that green infrastructure (GI) can be used to prevent stormwater pollution and flooding? Green infrastructure is a nationally recognized, impactful strategy for managing stormwater as it mimics the natural water cycle. GI absorbs or stores stormwater so it doesn’t pick up pollutants like bacteria, sediment, or nutrients.

There are different types of GI, which are chosen to best fit the site. Along with managing stormwater sustainably and providing amenities to those who live and work nearby, GI can provide short and long-term cost savings to developers and property owners.

For examples of Green Infrastructure installations and resources for learning more about how to install and maintain GI, visit www.respectourwaters.org/environmentally-sensitive-design

Community Rivers Program (CRP)

Family Fishing Fun

Thursday, July 6th, from 4:30-6:30pm at Ehlers County Park

Spend the afternoon on the banks of the Milwaukee River at Ehlers County Park with a pole in your hand and hopefully a few bites on your line! Learn how to tie a hook on your line, bait your hook, and safely cast your line into the water. With the assistance of a CRP team member, we will try to catch and identify the fish before releasing them back into their home: The Milwaukee River. Bait and poles provided on a first come, first serve basis or feel free to bring your own. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children 16 and under do not require a fishing license. Registration is not required.

Coming Together For Clean Water

We all benefit from having clean and healthy rivers. That's why we're coming together as a community to plan, design, and build projects that will keep our stretch of the Milwaukee River beautiful and livable for generations to come.  For more info and upcoming events, visit us at:
