Absentee Ballots

There are several ways to vote absentee. Residents need to be registered to vote to receive an absentee ballot (although you can register at the same time as requesting a ballot).

In-Person Absentee Voting:

In-Person Absentee Voting (sometimes referred to as Early Voting) takes place at Village Hall, 639 E Green Bay Ave., Saukville, during normal business hours starting no earlier than 14 days prior to the election. You must provide an acceptable ID just as you would at the polls. Completion of the Absentee Ballot is done on-site with a provided witness and no ballots may leave the office.

Requesting an Absentee Ballot to be Mailed to you:

MyVote: You can request an Absentee Ballot on MyVote Wisconsin by uploading a picture of your Photo ID.

By Mail: A completed Absentee Ballot Application form, along with a copy of your Photo ID, can be mailed to: Village Clerk’s Office, 639 E. Green Bay Avenue, Saukville, WI 53080

Email: You may email your completed Absentee Ballot Application, along with a copy of your Photo ID, to the Village Clerk’s Office.

Your Absentee Ballot request must be received by 5:00 p.m. the Thursday prior to an Election. For Indefinitely Confined and Military Voters, the request must be received by 5:00 p.m. the Friday prior to an Election.

More information on the Acceptable Photo ID requirements can be found at the Wisconsin Elections Commission website.

You can choose to have the ballot sent to a different mailing address; however, ballots cannot be forwarded to another address through the USPS (vacation holds, moving forward, etc). You cannot request for your ballot to be sent to a PO Box. Please specify the location you wish for your ballot to be sent.

*Indefinitely Confined Absentee Voters, Military Voters, Confidential Voters, and Permanently Oversees Voters are exempt from the ID requirement per Wisconsin State Statutes 6.86

Returning Your Absentee Ballot:

By Mail: Ballots can be returned through the US Postal Service using the postage-paid Certification Envelope that was provided with the ballot. Please allow yourself enough time to return your ballot. Ballots must be received prior to the polls closing at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day in order for your vote to count.

In-Person: Ballots can also be personally delivered to the Clerk's Office during normal business hours up until 5:00 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots can be returned to the polling location on Election Day up until when the polls close at 8:00 p.m. Ballots must be returned by the voter to whom the ballot was issued (exceptions to this rule will only be made in the case of disability).

Your ballot must be returned in the provided Certification Envelope, including your signature and date, along with a witness’ signature, printed name, and address. Please follow the Uniform Instructions for Wisconsin Absentee Voters carefully to ensure your vote gets counted.

The Village of Saukville does not have an authorized drop box for absentee ballots at this time.
